Shurooq receives its first ISO 9001:2015 Certification

Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), known as the force behind the quick and unprecedented transformation of Sharjah into a globally attractive investment, business, and tourism destination, has recently secured the coveted ISO 9001:2015 quality certification.

Shurooq has received this qualification after being successful in a thorough audit by the independent international certification body, SGS. The body conducted their assessment over a series of checks and follow-ups over many months, reviewing Shurooq’s core institutional processes in the aforementioned sectors, and their participation in the overall development of the emirate of Sharjah.

“Obtaining our ISO 9001:2015 certification is the culmination of a company-wide initiative led by our Chairman, Sheikha Bodour bint Mohammed Sultan Al Qasimi,” said HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, explaining that Shurooq’s incremental achievements leading up to this prestigious international recognition is a true reflection of their collective commitment to quality management, and strategic and procedural accuracy in both internal and external operations, since its establishment in 2009.

“This certification highlights our efforts to perform a systematic evaluation and follow-up on tourism, investment, and heritage-related infrastructure projects, participating in the comprehensive construction and development processes both in Sharjah and the UAE. The Authority values quality professionalism, and provides sound consultation resulting from top-level R&D, and of course a wealth of experience.”

Shurooq enjoys a longstanding history of mentoring its workforce towards success, and has maintained the highest levels of health and safety through their company. Team spirit is a highly prized value in the organisation, and a high emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction rates.

“With ISO 9001:2015 certification in place, we are further determined to continue to maintain a disciplined process and methodology to assure the highest level of quality in all of our products and services. We are always looking at new ways to evolve our quality management system and are taking the necessary steps to achieve many more quality certifications in future,” Al Sarkal added.

Commenting on the significance of the achievement, Dina Ibrahim Al Nakhi, Director of Quality and Corporate Excellence at Shurooq, said: “Becoming an officially ISO certified investment promotions agency lies perfectly in line with our mission and vision to communicate our strong position as a leading investment promotion agency (IPA) with a standardized business excellence. Shurooq has underwent a series of transitions throughout its practice of business excellence and quality services, which started as a government owned IPA, to an Award winning IPA and now a certified IPA”.

She added: “This certification carries a strong message to our partners and business clients locally and internationally, on Shurooq’s commitment in pursuing a quality service that translates to international standards. This will also help us in exploring innovative and leading initiatives to ensure consistency in our ongoing B2B and B2C services standards, as well as consistency in our internal and external communications framework.”

The SGS report has revealed Shurooq’s heightened efforts recently to improve the overall quality and performance of its many sectors, and accelerate the completion of procedures with internal and external clients. This has enhanced their position before international bodies responsible for the stimulation of investments and investor facilitation.

Shurooq has a stellar quality track record to show for, and continues to maintain a quality management system, ultimately leading to consistency in its products and services. Additionally, it confirms strict attention to detail regarding management responsibility, resource management, product realisation, as well as measurement, analysis and improvement to assure conformity of the overall developmental process.
