Tilal City mall expected to open in 2019

Tilal Properties, a joint venture between Sharjah Asset Management and Eskan Real Estate Development, has revealed details of Tilal Mall, the central retail and entertainment complex of the AED 2.4 billion (US$ 653m) Tilal City. According to the developer, the new mall will cover a gross area of about 2 million square meters (21.5 million sq. ft.), making it Sharjah’s largest mall with construction scheduled to start mid-2017. The retail complex is expected to officially open in 2019.

Tilal Properties showcased Tilal City and its new plans for Tilal Mall at Cityscape Global 2016 from September 6th until 8th 2016 at Dubai World Trade Centre. The developer launched the 25 million square foot mixed-use community project in 2014 and announced the appointment of Amsterdam-headquartered Arcadis as the lead consultant and designer for Tilal Mall earlier this year.

To be located adjacent to a 65-hectare recreational park, Tilal Mall complex will include a new four-star hotel, a hypermarket, a fashion corner with exclusive brands, a family entertainment centre, a multi-screen cinema and Tilal Boulevard, a restaurant area featuring a selection of culinary outlets. The mall is expected to have a gross leasable area of 94,121 square metres (1m sq. ft.)

Tilal City is Sharjah’s first free-hold and free-lease, master-planned project, to take advantage of the 2014 update to Sharjah’s property law, which allows expatriates to purchase properties on a 100-year leasehold basis (within government approved developments). The development comprises 1855 land plots, aiming to provide high-quality housing for 65,000 residents including apartments, villas and townhouses.

Tilal City is divided into four major zones, consisting of neighbourhoods and residential clusters, linked together via green public spaces and corridors. The residential developments will surround a fifth zone, which will contains a shopping mall and central recreational park. Of the development’s total area of 25 million square feet, 13 million square feet will be used for property sales and 12 million square feet for public facilities, roads and parks.

The central Tilal City park will be developed to include a variety of special features and attractions including dedicated event spaces, amphitheatres, pavilions, exercise and sports facilities, and food and beverage outlets.

Strategically located on the Emirates Road (E611), close to Al Dhaid interchange, Tilal City is just 10 kilometres away from Sharjah’s International Airport and within convenient commuting distance to nearby emirates, with Dubai only 2 kilometres away.

Sharjah emirate expects to add over 3 million square feet (278,000+ sqm.) of premium shopping mall space by the year 2020, to include expansion plans for existing malls and new mall developments in the city and throughout the emirate.
