City Sightseeing Sharjah routes to expand into Ajman

Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) and Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) signed a cooperation agreement at Arabian Travel Market 2015 in Dubai, to promote all tourism and cultural landmarks and historic sites in Ajman and Sharjah. Present at the signing ceremony were H.E. Faisal bin Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Director General of Ajman Tourism Development Department and H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shuooq.

Under the agreement, Shurooq’s hop-on, hop-off city tour operator, City Sightseeing Sharjah, will expand its services to the emirate of Ajman. The new service will make it easy for tourists visiting either emirates to visit tourist landmarks in both Ajman and Sharjah.

Earlier this year, City Sightseeing Sharjah and its new City Sightseeing counterpart in neighbouring Dubai began providing a service to connect Dubai and Sharjah tourists holding a 48-hour validity ticket to visit tourism attractions in both cities.

Sharjah welcomed 2 million tourists during 2014, while Ajman saw 850,000 tourists visit the emirate in 2014. Government authorities in both emirates have initiatives to develop their tourism sectors and encourage more visitors.

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) last week announced Sharjah Tourism Vision 2021, a tourism development strategy that aims to attract more than 10 million tourists to Sharjah emirate by year 2021.

Beginning operations in January 2013, City Sightseeing Sharjah is currently ranked as the top tourist activity in Sharjah by globally respected travel site Tripadvisor. City Sightseeing operates on five continents around the world, and in over 100 of the most important cities in the world.
