SEDD passes ISO 9001:2015 Periodic Review

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” succeeded in passing the procedures of the periodic follow-up visit to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certificate after passing the audit phase on all work procedures followed by it, and ensuring that all conditions and requirements of the total quality system in its various departments are met.

The scope of the application of this specification was also expanded to include Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurship “RUWAD”, according to the report issued by the company, and the results of the audit, which showed the Department’s full commitment to the requirements of the administrative system that is compatible with the aforementioned specification, and it was recommended to continue issuing the ISO certificate according to the scope of application.

After the end of the external audit, the Department deserved the continuity of the ISO 9001: 2015 international standard for quality management system certification. This helped it continue its career as a government economic entity that adheres to all the requirements of the international standard and seeks in its policies to ensure that all conditions and requirements of the quality system are met in its various departments. Also, it reflected its commitment to international quality standards and its keenness on continuous improvement in the levels and mechanisms of providing services to all customers in accordance with the best international standards.

Commenting on that, His Excellency Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, said that the Department is working to develop the emirate’s economy through planning and providing distinguished services using qualified human cadres and advanced technical systems in accordance with the highest quality standards. His Excellency pointed out that passing the periodic review of the ISO 9001:2015 certificate came after an extensive evaluation, which coincides with the Department’s objectives in working to achieve sustainable economic development and quality in practices.

In addition, His Excellency added that the continuous follow-up to this certificate reflects and culminates the efforts made by the department to develop its procedures and simplify its services. This is done to attain SEDD’s strategic goals calling for adopting best practices in procedures and quality systems to develop performance, leading to a diversified economy. HE stressed that SEDD is determined to show its excellence in maintaining the highest international quality standards in all its departments, transactions and services.

Furthermore, His Excellency pointed out that reviewing ISO certificate in quality management reflects its commitment to excellence in serving all customers in accordance with the best international practices. This fall within the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who calls for focusing on innovation and continuous development of services and providing them to customers through multiple smart channels. Therefore, SEDD pays attention to spreading the culture of quality among employees and informing them of all modern trends in the field of quality and institutional excellence. This falls within its belief of serving customers in the best possible way and linking the quality of services with institutional performance and achieving strategic goals.

From his side, Hamad Al Midfa, Acting Director of Strategic Planning and Performance Department at SEDD, said that the Department works according to the highest standards which pays great attention to improve provided services for customers and investors as well as adopts the best practices in quality and institutional excellence. Also, Al Midfa praised the efforts of all employees and their keenness to provide terms and conditions for achieving quality practices in the various sections, and their commitment to accomplish the tasks required in this regard. Also, he pointed out that SEDD pays great attention to adopt creativity and apply the culture of quality at work and follows up its application with all employees through internal quality auditors to ensure the application of the standards.

Moreover, Al Midfa explained that the standards for obtaining ISO certificates is crucial for institutional development to reach excellence, and to provide high quality services that targets customers happiness. Also, he illustrated that the periodic review of certification standards translates into reality the successful strategic policy set by the Department’s management.
