Multi-million dollar LED plant to be set-up in SAIF Zone

Rexton Technologies Middle East, an industrial arm of Sharjah-headquartered Kingston Holdings FZC, is setting up a multi-million dollar LED Manufacturing facility in Sharjah Airport Free Zone (SAIF Zone), to capitalise on the region’s growing demand for LED lights. According to recent research by Frost & Sullivan, the GCC LED market is currently growing at 16.8 percent (CAGR) per annum and is expected to reach US$ 1.978 billion in revenues by the year 2020.

Kingston first ventured into the manufacture of light fittings through its 2005 acquisition of Square Engineering, trainsferring manufacturing operations to a 5,000 square metre (54,000 s.q ft.) purpose built factory in SAIF Zone in 2008.

The first phase of the new Rexton Technologies LED production plant will manufacture a range of fast moving commercial items including LED panels, retrofit downlights, street lights, weather proof lights, batten fittings, flood lights and spot lights.

Rexton Technologies will also develop a world-class 3,000 square foot (279 sqm.) digital LED lighting laboratory as part of the LED facility. The lab will research and test new products, technologies and applications, providing testing of LED efficiency, gauging quality, light output, colour rendering ability and durability. Rexton is currently seeking international accreditation for the laboratory.

Rexton is a flagship brand of Kingston Holdings exporting to more than 100 countries, with over 12 years of expertise in providing local and global customers with highly customised lighting solutions for commercial, industrial and special applications.

Kingston Holdings is one of the largest investors in SAIF Zone with an office and industrial complex spread over 1 million square feet (93,000 sqm.). SAIF Zone’s strategic location next to Sharjah International Airport and within easy reach of ports on Sharjah’s West and East costs, has made it popular with manufacturing and distribution industries. Free zone companies also enjoy incentives including 100 percent foreign ownership, 100 percent repatriation of capital and profits and fast processing of government paperwork.

Kingston Holdings operates in a diverse range of ISO-certified, high-end product manufacturing facilities at its Sharjah manufacturing headquarters. The company produces about 1,200 products including heating and ventilation products, household appliances, home security, lighting, cable management systems, solar heating and lighting, metal enclosures, data storage and personal care products.
