City tours connect Dubai and Sharjah

Popular Sharjah-based hop-on, hop-off city tour operator City Sightseeing Sharjah and its new City Sightseeing counterpart in neighbouring Dubai are connecting to allow tourists holding a 48-hour validity ticket to visit tourism attractions in both cities.

Ranked #1 out of 28 activities to do in Sharjah by globally respected travel site Tripadvisor, City Sightseeing Sharjah was launched by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in 2012, beginning operations in January 2013. City Sightseeing operates on five continents around the world, and in over 100 of the most important cities in the world. City Sightseeing Dubai launched it’s operations in October 2014 in partnership with Dnata, one of the world’s largest air services providers.

Travelers holding a 48-hour validity ticket for either City Sightseeing Sharjah or City Sightseeing Dubai now have access to any City Sightseeing tours in Sharjah or Dubai for the duration of the ticket. Eligible ticket holders can also make use of a free shuttle service, running between the Central Souq in Sharjah and Deira City Centre in Dubai.

Since its launch, City Sightseeing Sharjah has expanded both its number of routes and number of stops in Sharjah, recently adding stops at Sahara Center, Safeer Mall, the Book Roundabout, and Sharjah City Centre.

Sharjah has invested heavily in developing its tourism sector as a strategic pillar of the emirate’s economy and two million tourists were expected to visit the emirate by the end of 2014, driven by overseas tourist visitors. Some 36 international cruise ships bringing more than 80,000 tourists are expected to visit over the current 2014-2015 season, while the bulk of overseas tourists arrive by air or via other neighbouring emirates.
